The police arrested eight employees of the university’s examination section and will be making more arrests after investigations are over. According to the police, employees of Mumbai University sneaked the answer sheets out of the store room located on the varsity’s Kalina campus in suburban Santacruz. The answer sheets were allegedly handed over to the students through agents.After the action by the Mumbai police on Saturday, the university held an emergency meeting on Sunday in which all the top authorities were present along with members of the management and academic council too. Confirming that the governor had asked for a report on the engineering paper scam, a university spokesperson on behalf of Dr Deshmukh said, “The meeting on Sunday dwelt on all issues including purging all avenues of malpractices as well as introducing measures to curb a repeat of such incidents in future. Sources in the university said that the authorities had been tipped about the malpractices in the examination section and the involvement of some of the temporary staff.
